Current personnel

Fabio Morgante, PI. 2020-present.

Fabio is a faculty member at the Clemson Institute for Human Genetics and holds an appointment in the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry at Clemson University. Fabio earned an MS in Agricultural Sciences from Università degli Studi di Firenze (Italy), an MSc in Animal Breeding and Genetics from The University of Edinburgh (UK), an MR in Statistics and a PhD in Genetics from North Carolina State University (US) where he worked under the mentorship of Dr. Trudy Mackay. He did postdoctoral research at The University of Chicago (US) in the labs of Drs. Matthew Stephens and Yang Li. When he is not in the lab, Fabio likes traveling, eating barbecue, and spending time with his family.

Chunming Liu, graduate student. 2021-present.

Chunming is a sixth-year PhD student in Biomedical Data Science and Informatics at Morgante Lab at Clemson University. Prior to joining the program, she earned an MS in Pharmaceutical Economics & Policy from MCPHS University and a MS degree in Computer Science from Fitchburg State University. Chunming enjoys hiking, jogging, and cooking in her spare time.

Noah Klimkowski, graduate student. 2022-present.

Noah is a fourth-year PhD student in Genetics with the Morgante Lab at Clemson University. He is a returning Clemson alum having completed his undergrad with the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry. He started in the lab as a Master student and transitioned to a PhD in Fall 2023. While not focused on academic endeavors, Noah’s personal interests are in origami, climbing, and ballroom dance.

Yuxuan Sun, graduate student. 2024-present.

Yuxuan is a third-year PhD student in Biomedical Data Science and Informatics at the Morgante Lab at Clemson University, co-advised by Dr. Trudy Mackay. She holds a Master’s degree in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from the University of California, Irvine. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her cat, cooking, and traveling.

Hao Wu, postdoctoral fellow. 2026-present.

Dr. Hao Wu is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Clemson University Institute for Human Genetics, working with Drs. Fabio Morgante and Trudy Mackay. He began his academic career at the University of Liverpool, where he earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Bioinformatics. He then received an M.S. in Biostatistics from the University of California, Davis. Hao earned his Ph.D. in Biostatistics from Michigan State University under the mentorship of Dr. Gustavo de los Campos. His doctoral research focused on developing statistical and machine learning methods for genomic prediction, quantitative genetics, and complex trait analysis. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his cat, watching movies, and traveling.
